It has been an action-packed three days at the SD Team CymruVelo Track Cup event where we witnessed top-tier elite cyclists and junior cyclists compete against each other in numerous events from Sprint Races to Keirin Races, at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales in Newport.
It was fantastic to see some of Wales’ top cyclists compete in thrilling races including Anna Morris who took home the Elite Omnium title, whilst also winning the Women’s Elite Points Race and the Elimination Race, where fellow Welsh cyclist, Megan Barker, finished third in this event. There was also success for Welsh cyclist Rhian Edmunds who was crowned winner of the Women’s Elite Keirin Race whilst Ben Wiggins claimed the top spot in the Men’s Elite Points Race, which was sponsored by SD Team.
We are extremely proud to sponsor such an exciting event, especially as it is an important springboard for younger riders to gain international success in the future. SD Team has worked closely with Beicio Cymru, formerly known as Welsh Cycling, since 2015 and the partnership has become stronger and developed greatly over the years. We have been involved with supporting and funding many of their athletes and are looking forward to seeing what the years ahead bring in the cycling world.
We would like to thank Beicio Cymru for choosing us to headline sponsor such a wonderful event. It reflects our commitment to supporting the National Governing Body as well as their Youth and Junior Academy which is a pathway for their youth and junior programmes. It means a lot to us to be a part of such an unforgettable weekend of racing.
