Now known as Station Mews, the South Liverpool development comprises a mixture of three semi-detached houses, five townhouses, and 40 apartments.
Immortalised in the Beatles’ song Penny Lane, Allerton Fire and Police Station has been redeveloped by contractor Housing Maintenance Solutions Limited, who invited the expert cosmetic repairs team at SD to carry out a series of works in readiness for completion.
With our work beginning in October 2023, SD carried out cleaning and repairs to all stonework, tinted brickwork to match surrounding areas, fully resprayed shower trays, and provided repairs to kitchen worktops and scratched doors, which required sanding, colour matching, painting and lacquering.
One of the main objectives of the £8m redevelopment scheme was to contribute to the preservation of the historic Allerton Fire and Police Station, meeting local demand for affordable housing while keeping its original features, including retaining the fire station’s signature crest, its façade, and external walls.
To this end, the SD Cosmetic Repairs team have taken great care to ensure that the stone and brickwork has been restored to closely match the surrounding areas in keeping with its historic look and feel.
We’re incredibly proud of the work carried out at the new Station Mews and it’s been fantastic to watch the iconic site be transformed into a development that not only preserves its history but also provides affordable housing to the community.
