Projects
We’ve been honoured to work on everything from football stadiums and luxury housing developments to school campuses and hospitals this year. The SD team have been travelling up and down the UK to deliver quality finishing services from Scotland to the South West.
Some of our favourite projects of the year have included Sir Thomas Rich’s school in Gloucestershire, which called on the SD tiling team to carry out a full refit of its swimming pool facility, and the brand new York Stadium, home to York Football Club and York City Knights rugby league team, which is a £44m development boasting 8,000 seats.
We were also thrilled to be invited to carry out the refurbishment of the Mariners restaurant in Rock, Cornwall run by celebrity chef Paul Ainsworth, as well as the interior tiling for a brand new residential neighbourhood in Cheltenham Spa, Gloucestershire – where bespoke, £1million houses and luxury villas are being developed with a view over the Cotswolds.
New services
This year, SD teams branched out by launching a new painting and decorating service across both commercial and residential sectors. As well as our highly successful sealant, cosmetic repair and tiling divisions, we now provide painting and decorating services for businesses in residential, hospitality, leisure, healthcare and retail industries to name a few.
Heading up the new department is Richard Courtenay, who has over 19 years of experience in the painting and decorating industry, having previously led a large team in the new build and refurbishments subsector.
On top of that, we are delighted to have strengthened SD’s marine and cruise ship offering with the appointment of Gareth Preston, our new Director of Marine Services. After 23 years in the industry, Gareth’s move to SD follows three years at repairs company Magicman, where he consulted on several leading cruise operators including Princess Cruise Lines, Holland America and Viking Cruise Lines to name a few.
Our growing team
So much of our success here at SD is down to our fantastic team of repairs technicians, mastic applicators and tiling professionals, and we are thrilled to be adding even more talented members to our workforce this year.
This March saw SD appointing Craig Clegg as its Senior Contracts Manager to oversee an ambitious expansion drive in North of England. Craig has 18 years’ experience in the sealants industry and his move to SD follows four years at Sustainable Services, where he launched and developed its sealants offering.
As part of our expansion in the North, we were very excited to be putting down roots in Yorkshire this October with the acquisition of Leeds-based H2O Sealants, as well as opening a brand new unit in Leeds, where we are recruiting for several new skilled workers to join the SD team.
