Voyager, formerly the world largest cruise ship, boasts the capacity for up to 4,000 guests, with everything from surf simulators and laser tag to 14 bars and restaurants.
While on board, the team have been carrying out a range of interior repairs and outfitting, including the installation of 300m2 of deckhead panels in the ship’s Star Lounge.
Located on the upper decks, the Star Lounge is one of the Voyager’s prime spots for entertainment and as such sees a heavy amount of footfall. It’s incredibly important that the space is attractive, well-kept but also safe and maintained to a high standard for guests, which is where the SD Team come in.
Alongside this deckhead installation, our marine interiors team also replaced and refurbished 600m2 of quartz counter tops in one of the ship’s restaurants, a large buffet-style dining room.
Counter and tabletops understandably suffer wear and tear during the busy high season and SD Marine Interiors can help with buffing out any scratches and repairing chips following heavy use, whilst replacing those sections beyond repair, keeping waste and cost to a minimum.
We also replaced floor tiling, with new natural marble tiles cut to fit a curved pattern, along with new stainless steel-lined doors for waiter stations in the main restaurant.
This has been a very rewarding project to have been involved in, and we’re looking forward to working with Royal Caribbean again in the future.
After a busy refit season, toward the end of the year we will be at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo in London. From the 4th – 5th December, SD Marine Interiors will be exhibiting its award-winning sustainable stand and showcasing two service offerings; outfitting and hard surface repair. Catch us on stand 634!
