Having been involved with GT racing for several years, Nick Jones, Scott Malvern and Team Parker Racing are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to have their very own Porsche 911 GT3 R featured in the Scalextric’s 2023 line-up. But let’s look at this opportunity in more depth.
Nick started Formula Ford 1600, at his local circuit in Castle Combe and won the Pre-90 class championship in 2004 with a Reynard 89FF.
In 2014 Nick made the switch to sportscar racing, teaming up with multiple single-seater champion Scott Malvern to race a Radical SR3 for the Kevin Mills Racing team in both the UK and Europe. The pair finished an impressive third in the UK Enduro Championship points during their second year in 2015.
The duo first joined British GT in 2016 and soon joined Team Parker Racing for their first experience with a racing Porsche, a Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR. A big milestone was achieved in 2018, when Nick and Scott won the British GT4 Pro-Am Championship in a Mercedes-AMG GT4 run by Team Parker Racing.
For 2020, Nick and Scott made the step up to British GT3, joining the highest level of sportscar racing in the UK. They celebrated their first overall British GT race win at Donington Park, where they impressively guided their Bentley Continental GT3 to victory in tricky mixed conditions.
Nick and Scott returned the Porsche brand to British GT in 2021 when they switched to a new 911 GT3 R, again run by Team Parker Racing. This is the car Scalextric has chosen to immortalise in 1:43-scale, lured by its distinctive SD teams livery and the fact it has been the most successful Porsche on the British GT grid for the last few seasons.
With the season now finished, Nick Jones and Scott Malvern will take some time to reset, before announcing their plans for the 2023 season in due course.
