The amazing lake at Bristol’s newest tourist attraction would not have been possible without the 8000m of sealing needed to ensure the water stays crystal clear and free from algae.
The SD team worked alongside the main contractor Andrew Scott to help bring the exciting concept to life.
The 180-metre surfing lake is the size of six football pitches, has been filled with 26million litres of water and will offer visitors an inland surf destination where everyone can surf and bodyboard all year round.
Advanced surfers will be able to practise their skills on waves peaking at 1.9 metres, or 6.2ft, which last for around 15 seconds but the facility will cater for all abilities which means there will also be the chance to ride waves which reach just over half a metre.
Alongside the lake there will also be a restaurant, surf shop, gardens for visitors to explore and 25 glamping pods which visiting surfers will use as accommodation.

"Due to the vast size of the concrete slab/pool and different levels, there was an excess of 8000m that required sealing before they could start to fill with water."
