The team at SD teams have been on site at Plymouth Science Park this May, working on at three-storey building that boasts innovation and creativity for local businesses and entrepreneurs.
The Cosmetic Repairs crew, headed up by Contracts Manager Tony Webb, completed approximately seven full day’s worth of work on the project and carried out repairs on everything from damaged doors to IPS panels.
Plymouth Science Park now has more than 150 registered businesses working under its roof, with nearly 1,000 staff, and therefore remains the largest science and technology park in the South West.
The park was originally built by BAM Construction, from a design by Royal William Yard-based architects HLM, and is clad with zinc-coloured aluminium, featuring exterior wall glass “pop outs”, for residents to take a seat in.
The front of the building features a huge glazed area, known as “the knuckle”, illuminated at night. Despite its impressive design, Plymouth Science Park have stressed that the ambience inside the block is just as important as the physical building itself, with workers encouraged to take part in activities and healthy eating, and spend down time in relaxing spaces.
This is one of the first jobs SD teams have undertaken for Kier Construction Plymouth, who are the fourth largest UK construction contractor.
Everyone on the team has been really happy with the work done, and as the standard of repairs has been a great success they are looking forward to continuing the partnership in future.
