Ronald McDonald House Charities, which opened in this summer, will provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families who have children being treated at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital and the neo-natal intensive care unit at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The House has been raising money to complete the building work and furnishing for the site, and to secure vital first year running costs of the accommodation.
It will have 30 en suite bedrooms as well as kitchens, lounges, playroom areas, and laundry facilities and cost over £5.5 million to construct.
SD teams has partnered with Wilmott Dixon for this project, and has been working on the exterior glasswork of the building.
The unit, which should be fully completed this Autumn, marks the independent charity’s first ever “home away from home” accommodation in Wales, and the team at SD are over the moon to be able to help with such a worthwhile cause.
