The team worked hard to fix unsightly chips, scratches, and cracks to an exacting standard at Amazons warehouse, which saves the need to replace any items. The technicians resprayed handrails across five floors, repaired many laminated doors and mended wall damage caused by machinery, to name a few.
Due to the building being operational while the team was working on site, extra precautions had to be taken, such as ensuring the extraction system was used to remove any spray mist and sealant was used to ensure all surfaces were closed tight.
The team had to liaise with many Amazon personnel, including the main contractor, Health and Safety operatives and the operations team to coordinate the isolation of the fire detection systems to match the company standards. The technicians were instrumental in coordinating everything without triggering any fire alarms, which could have resulted in heavy fines if the warehouse had to be evacuated.
Project Manager, Mat Corker, said “This was probably one of the most demanding projects in the 21 years I have been in the business. We needed to ensure everything ran smoothly and met the extensive list of measures required by Amazon, as well as our own. It was a very rewarding experience once completed with high praise from the Amazon team who said we were an absolute dream to work with and made things a lot easier for them.
“I’m so proud of our team who performed outstanding work from the get-go. Our professional technicians worked with precision and had a keen eye for perfection that contractors have come to expect from SD.
“We’re also due to work on another Amazon building this year, after receiving such high praise on the Wakefield site. The team have built a strong reputation in cosmetic repairs and it is a credit to my team for the dedication and superb skill set they provide.”
