Working on behalf of the Salvation Army, our team were on-site to carry out mastic application for the facilities and expansion joints before the opening of Strawberry Field.
We completed the work over three visits earlier this year and it’s fantastic to see the attraction now finished and open to visitors.
Beatles’ guitarist John Lennon was inspired by the gardens at Strawberry Field home in Woolton, Liverpool as a young boy and as a result, an estimated 60,000 fans would visit the grounds per year.
The site had previously been closed in 2005 and has re-opened by the Salvation Army this year as a new tourist attraction for music fans.
Strawberry Field includes an exhibition on Lennon’s early life and a new red and white café, as well as a training facility for young people with learning disabilities.
Sections of the original mansion walls and steps have been kept and scattered around the landscaped gardens to be used as benches, and the original red wrought iron gates – ever-popular for fan photos – are still on display.
