Just a fortnight after their encouraging result at Snetterton, Nick Jones and Scott Malvern returned to race action in the British GT Championship, competing in the 500km three hour race on the Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone.
Just as in Snetterton, they showed very good pace in Saturday morning’s practice and then Saturday afternoon qualifying, which saw them placed 22nd overall out of 30 cars and 5th in the Pro-Am class.
With it being a three hour race, both drivers were required to drive longer stints and had to have three mandatory pit stops.
Nick maintained a good pace throughout his opening stint and then handed over to Scott, who traded fastest laps for the GT4 class during his stint with the very quick McLarens and Nissans.
The pairing looked set for another good finish – running 18th overall and 4th in class – until the penultimate lap, when an oil leak saw Scott slow dramatically and eventually be classified 5th in the Pro-Am Class and 22nd overall.
The next event for Nick and Scott is at the legendary Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on the 7th & 8th July.
