What we did
Ronald McDonald House Charities provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families who have children being treated at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital and the neo-natal intensive care unit at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The House had been raising money to complete the building work and furnishing for the site, and to secure vital first year running costs of the accommodation.
It homes 30 en suite bedrooms as well as kitchens, lounges, playroom areas, and laundry facilities and cost over £5.5 million to construct.
SD teams partnered with construction company Wilmott Dixon for this project, and provided glass surface repairs to the exterior glasswork of the building ready for opening.
This unit marks the independent charity’s first ever “home away from home” accommodation in Wales, and the team at SD are over the moon to be able to help with such a worthwhile cause.
Results
We were delighted to provide expert glass repairs to the building’s exterior. The team on-site were able to repair and polish all panes to a perfect finish and we are happy to say that the property looked pristine and safe ready for opening.
